City to host farm expo from Friday
Aurangabad: A four-day state-level agriculture exhibition, Maha Agro 2019, will be held from November 29 to December 2 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra on Paithan Road.
“The annual exhibition will provide a platform to the local farmers to showcase their products and expose them to new technology and techniques,” Vasant Deshmukh, chief coordinator of the event, said.
Farmers from across Marathwada and other adjoining districts are set to attend the event organised by Marathwada Sheti Sahaya Mandal (MSSM).
Live field crop demonstration has been arranged at Agriculture Tech School where visitors can witness actual farms where 52 varieties of 16 crops are grown by 14 companies.
“The event will inform farmers about new farming technologies, machinery and equipment. Sessions by experts will be held on farmer-relevant topics. The sessions would help farmers deal with weather changes, guide them in agro processing and marketing their products so as to double their income,” Deshmukh said.
Former CMIA president and member of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) Ram Bhogale said a session by agriculture expert Tamanna Chaturvedi will guide farmers on how to export their produce.
As many as 200 companies will display their technology and equipment and around 2,300 farmer and self-help groups will directly sell their agriculture produce at the venue.
The organisers have also shortlisted 10 farmers for Jawaharlal Gandhi Shetkari Samman award which will be conferred during the event.
