BJP & Sena likely to split ZP president term in Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: BJP and Shiv Sena may share the term of the president of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar zilla parishad for two and a half years each, with BJP expected to get the first chance.BJP and Shiv Sena, which had a pre-poll alliance, won 23 and 21 seats, respectively, in the recent zilla parishad election out of a total of 63 seats to cross the halfway mark and gain power. Among other parties, Shiv Sena (UBT) won nine seats, NCP won four, and Congress and NCP (SP) won one each.BJP district president Suhas Shirsath said the state leadership would take a final call on sharing the term of president of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar ZP. "We have held discussions at the local level. No final joint discussions with Shiv Sena have taken place yet," he said.A local Shiv Sena functionary said his party and BJP would have a claim over the post of the zilla parishad president for two and a half years each. "We won almost an equal number of seats in ZP polls as that of BJP. The only question is who will claim the first term," he said, preferring anonymity.Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule had unveiled the manifesto of BJP for zilla parishad polls. The manifesto promised rural development on multiple fronts, including health, education and road infrastructure.
