AURANGABAD: The investigation into the murder of a 24-year-old woman by a scribe in Aurangabad has revealed that the key accused, Saurabh Lakhe, took help from his close friend to commit the crime.
The authorities said a total of three people have been named in the case, and so far, two have been arrested.
PI Sambhaji Pawar of the Cidco police station, while talking to TOI, said, “During the preliminary probe, the key accused confessed that his close friend accompanied him at the time of the murder.
We have named him as an accused and are searching for him.”
He added, “The third accused named in the case is Sunil Dhaneshwar (25), who was caught driving the car in which Lakhe was carrying the body of the deceased, Ankita Shrivastav.”
Those privy to the probe said that Lakhe and his friend were with the deceased woman on August 14 and they had gone to Shivur together. All the accused and the deceased belong to Shivur.
Police said the woman had an extramarital affair with Lakhe, who too is married. The couple had been living in Navjeevan Colony of the Hudco area for the past four months. The accused claimed that he murdered the woman after she started forcing him to get married to her.
During the probe, the accused confessed to strangling the woman on the morning of August 15. The following day, Lakhe claimed that he returned to the house and chopped the woman’s head and a hand, and took it to the godown of his furniture shop for dumping.
On Wednesday, he roped in Dhaneshwar to carry the decomposed body, but ran out of luck when the neighbours noticed a stink coming from the house. The neighbours also saw the gunny bag in which the body was kept and informed the police.
