Aurangabad: Cricket lovers from Aurangabad will have an opportunity to watch the upcoming finale of Indian Premier League (IPL) on a specially arranged public LCD display on May 29. The move is part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (B'IPL Fan Park' initiative, under which few selected cities will have the above arrangements.
The IPL final match will be shown at Aurangabad District Cricket Association (ADCA) ground located at N-2 in CIDCO, beginning 6 pm, an ADCA release said.
"The IPL Fan Park is an initiative of BCCI where the IPL matches are screened live in a few select cities. This event is non-ticketed and free for all IPL fans," Sacheen Mulay, ADCA secretary has said.
The highlight of the proposed event is the 32x18 inch LED on which the cricket match will be screened live for the audience. The event arena will also see engagement stalls by IPL, its sponsors and the participating franchisees. It will also include a dedicated merchandising area, having food and beverage stalls selling their products at economical rates.
"Over 2, 50,000 fans apparently experienced the thrill of the IPL Fan Park around the country so far and had a gala time as some awesome matches were screened over the last weekend," Mulay said.
As a part of its initiatives to bring in newer audience through IPL, especially families, BCCI has been investing in Fan parks across the country in selected cities.
The May 29 event is open to kids as well as families. "A special zone for kids' entertainment will also be part of the event. New technology games will be set up where kids and family can play for free," ADCA authorities said.
Lauding the BCCI for hosting IPL Fan Park initiative in Aurangabad, cricket lovers said they would keep some time reserved for the event at ADCA ground. "I am excited to hear that the city will have a live screening of the IPL finale with the help of BCCI. I am big fan of IPL and will attend the event without fail," said Yogesh Kulkarni, a sports teacher.
