"Safety precautions have been observed while forming the human pyramid. Insurance has also been arranged for those taking part in the human pyramid," he added.
Claiming to be the biggest dahi handi event, Sanjay Shirsat organiser of Yugandhar dahi handi, said that the fourth consecutive year of the festival is witnessing residents from neighbouring talukas and villages attending the event.
To maintain the uniqueness, mandals also organised dance, stand alone comic acts and live orchestra for the audience.
"The volunteer at the apex of the human pyramid, which is almost at a height of 50 ft, would be attached with a hook to ensure safety," Shirsat said.
Citing traffic congestion and the risks involved during evening rush hours, some organisers have chosen to conduct the festival earlier in the day. "The mandal has chosen not to invite any celebrity and keep the festival simple. However, music has been arranged for entertainment," said Pramod Rathod, organiser of Swabhiman dahi handi mahotsav.
With two exclusive women mandals in the city, the event has also witnessed immense participation from women.
