AIFF to begin from Feb 5 with focus on Marathi cinema
Aurangabad: The 7th Aurangabad International Film Festival (AIFF) will be held at Inox multiplex in Prozone Mall from February 5 to 9.
Organisers of the festival said they will project Marathwada and Aurangabad as a cultural hub on international-level. The festival was announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
Ashok Rane, the festival director “This festival is a platform for aspiring filmmakers, technicians, artists and film enthusiasts to learn and understand artistic as well as technical aspects of cinema. We want to promote the region as a film production hub, cultural centre in the state.”
Artistic director Chandrakant Kulkarni said that AIFF aspires to promote tourism of the region and create a networking centre for local talents from Marathwada to connect with filmmakers, film scholars, technicians from across the world. Promotion of Marathi cinema nationally and globally is one of the key objectives of the festival, he said.
The festival includes regional, national and international movie screenings, Indian film competition, international federation of film critics, India jury award, the lifetime achievement award, short film competition, a master class by filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, seminars, poster exhibition on Mrinal Sen, Shriram Lagu, Girish Karnad and film appreciation workshops.
The film festival is organised by Nath Group and Mahatma Gandhi Mission and supported by the department of cultural affairs, government of Maharashtra.
