Administrator of CSMC for more services online

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: G Shreekant, the newly appointed administrator of the civic body, has decided to take all citizen-related services either to doorsteps or make them available online.The official said that making the existing services online will also bring down the number of citizens visiting the civic body.Shreekant said, “Our aim is to make most services ‘doorstep delivery’ and bring down the time required for them. We are considering making several of the services online to ensure transparency in the overall process.”The directives were issued on Friday after he held introductory meetings with officials and various HoDs.Shreekant said he has asked the authorities to work on the idea of making the marriage, birth and death registration process online.“Such certificates should be either uploaded online or sent through post, saving much of the precious manhours of citizens and giving them the much-needed relief,” he said.The administrator has also suggested that the civic body should also shoulder the responsibility of performing the last rites of poor people from different communities. He has asked for making the registration process of graveyards, crematoriums online, so that the records not only get centralised, but the entries are made in real time.Sources said that the issue of online tax collection has also been discussed and the administrator has asked for improving the existing system and boosting the civic body’s revenue simultaneously.
