NEW DELHI: At least three people were killed after being mowed down by a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus in Beed district early on Sunday, police said.
The incident occurred around 6am near Ghodka Rajuri village in Beed taluka, where a group of youngsters was undergoing training for police recruitment, an official said.
The bus, en route from Beed to Parbhani, hit the three men as they trained by the roadside. Two others in the group narrowly escaped unhurt, the official added.
The victims, identified as Subodh More (20), Virat Ghodke (19), and Om Ghodke (20), were residents of Ghodka Rajuri village. The trio died on the spot, and their bodies were sent to Beed district hospital for post-mortem examinations, the official said.
The bus driver was apprehended, and a case is being registered against him.
The incident sparked anger among locals, who vandalized the MSRTC bus and demanded that jobs in the state transport department be provided to the family members of the deceased, the official added.
