AURANGABAD: Aurangabad district collector Virendra Singh on Monday ordered a 10% cut in water supply from the Jayakwadi reservoir. The reservoir supplies water to industries, fields and households.
Speaking to TOI, Singh said, “With the monsoon playing truant, we need to reserve water for drinking purposes. The reservoir holds 0.3% of the live stock now.
The water cut, however, will be applicable till July 31 and we hope for good rains by then.”
Earlier in the day, Singh held a meeting with irrigation officials to take stock of the water level in the reservoir. He said the cut in supply would be implemented from Tuesday itself. “The cut would be applicable to all sectors drawing water from the reservoir, including industries and areas covered by Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, he added.
