AMRITSAR: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) youth leader Talbir Singh Gill, who has been consistently launching verbal attacks against the president of the SAD-backed Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has been effectively silenced by the intervention of party leadership including Bikram Singh Majithia and Virsa Singh Valtoha presumably in the wake of impending Lok Sabha elections to avoid any further damage to the already precarious standing of the party.

On Wednesday, Valtoha took to his Facebook page to share a video. In the video, Talbir is seen positioned between Majithia and Valtoha. In the clip, Valtoha mentioned that the youth leader of SAD who was Halqua in-charge of the party from the Amritsar South assembly constituency, Talbir, was harboring dissatisfaction due to certain matters.

In what seems like an effort to pacify Talbir, Valtoha expressed that Talbir holds significant importance within the SAD family and embodies the core spirit of being an Akali. In the video, Valtoha revealed that Majithia personally engaged with Talbir regarding his grievances and gave his word to resolve them.

In the recent past, Talbir had publicly censured SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami for his alleged administrative failure following the electrocution as sewadar at Gurdwara Saheed Ganj . Gill, on the social media platform , had also questioned the silence of Dhami regarding the appointment of a non-Sikh Director-Principal at Sri Guru Ram Das (SGRD) Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in wake of his criticism of the appointment of a non-Sikh Administrator, now replaced, at Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib in Maharashtra.

Reacting to the possibility of Talbir's potential move to join the BJP, Valtoha made it clear that the speculated August 18 event was a topic of widespread discussion. He said that people were inquiring whether Talbir had organized an event for August 18 with intentions to distance himself from the SAD. Valtoha firmly refuted these claims, stating, "There is no such event, if anyone is under such an impression, it's important to grasp that the event has been canceled."
