: Dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of

Guru Nanak

Dev, UK-based The Sikh Group (TSG) has decided to hold its 10th annual Sikh awards here. “The awards will be given to deserving Sikh individuals and organisations across the globe in recognition of their achievements,” TSG founder Navdeep Singh said here on Wednesday.

Stating that wearing a turban was not a criterion for the awardees, he said as many as 500 Sikhs from around the world from different fields, including business, education, media, entertainment, sports and charity would converge in Amritsar on November 16. Navdeep said earlier the event had been held in London, Delhi, Toronto and Nairobi. “There can’t be a better time than the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev to honour the excellence and achievements of Sikhs, who continue to contribute immensely to the social, cultural and economic fabric of today’s global village in Guru di nagri,” he said.

When asked about the criteria for selection of awardees, Navdeep said,“ A panel of experts from all faiths examines the contribution made by individuals and organisations. Elite businessmen from India, Canada, Kenya, the

and the US will attend the event.” He added that recognitions were given to special contribution Sikhs made in the fields of business, charity, sport, media, education , entertainment, voluntary service and the special recognition award which was given to someone from another faith promoting multi-culturalism.
