Son, daughter get active to power up Punjab minister Manpreet Singh Badal’s army

BATHINDA: Having studied from renowned universities in the US and the UK, Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal’ son, daughter and niece are out in the rough and tumble of electoral slugfest in the Bathinda Urban Assembly segment.

and niece Mannat Johal are in Bathinda to actively campaign for Manpreet Badal for the February 20 elections. The trio is treading the arduous paths in upscale SUVs in reaching out to the voters.

Arjun (28) has done a degree in Political Science (BA) from New York University and has recently graduated with a degree in History (BA) from Cambridge Univeristy. Manpreet’s daughter

(26) has graduated with a degree in Media, Culture and Communication from New York University. On the other hand, Mannat graduated with a degree in International Relations from St Andrew’s University and is now pursuing a Masters degree from the London School of Economics.

Though avid English speakers, they interact with voters in chaste Punjabi and start the talk with ‘Sat Sri Akal’(mode of greeting in Punjabi) and makes a connect with occasional hugs. “Pursuing rough and tumble course of electioneering is not easy, but we enjoy meeting people of various hues and try to understand their problems,” say Arjun and Rhea. “For having studied political science, I take keen interest to draw differences between electoral scenes in the US and in India,” said Arjun.
