SIT at dera Sacha Sauda finds chairperson, vice-chief missing

BATHINDA: Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipasana and vice-chairperson P R Nain were not present at the sect’s headquarters in Sirsa when the Special Investigation Team (SIT) went there to question them on Monday. The SIT had gone to question them after the duo failed to appear despite summons being sent to them three times.


The SIT did not only search the residences of both Vipasana and Nain, but also of three absconding dera national committee members — Harsh Dhuri, Sandeep Bareta and Pardeep Kaler, who have been declared proclaimed offenders by the court — in the premises.

The SIT probing the cases of sacrilege wanted to question them after failing to get much information from dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim when it visited Sunaria jail on November 8. Both Vipasana and Nain were asked to appear before SIT on November 26 and then on December 3.

SIT head IGP Surinderpal Singh Parmar said, “When they were not found at the dera headquarters, we searched their homesw in Sirsa and probable hideouts on the dera premises. The management assured us that they will appear before SIT by Friday. We will wait for them till Friday, failing which, will take the legal route to question them.”
