AMRITSAR: A losing SAD candidate in the 2022 assembly elections, Talbir Singh Gill, on Sunday yet again questioned Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami’s silence over the appointment of a non-Sikh director-principal at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, especially when he himself had raised concerns about the appointment of a non-Sikh administrator, now replaced, at Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib in Maharashtra.

In a five-minute video message on his Facebook page, Gill said: “Is it logical to protest a non-Sikh appointment in Nanded while appointing a non-Sikh at SGRD Institute of Medical Sciences and Research? Were no Sikh candidates available for the medical institution?”

Recently, Gill had raised concerns about alleged multiple lapses in SGPC’s management, claiming that these issues had tainted the reputation of Akali leaders. He had also highlighted the unfortunate electrocution incident of an SGPC sewadar at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj.

Gill also raised the issue of alleged transfer of two SGPC employees in response to National Investigation Agency (NIA) team’s discontent during their recent visit to Golden Temple.

He claimed that they were promptly transferred following a phone call of a senior police officer of Amritsar. “I, myself, wait in line with the congregation to pay respects in the Golden Temple’s sanctum sanctorum,” Talbir Gill added.
