Rahul Gandhi likely to visit Amritsar today

AMRITSAR: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Amritsar on a 'personal' trip on Monday evening.

According to sources close to Rahul, during his brief visit, he will pay obeisance at the Golden Temple and is likely to stay for about two hours before returning to Delhi.

Sources also indicate that he may not interact with media personnel or have a scheduled meeting with the Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Raghbir Singh, or Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami during his 'personal' visit.

However, sources have not ruled out the political significance of Rahul Gandhi's visit, as the Congress party is contesting all four assembly constituencies in the by-elections scheduled for November 20.
