AMRITSAR: Punjab police claim to have busted a cross-border drug smuggling racket following the recovery of 5kg heroin and the arrest of an alleged drug smuggler.
Director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Friday that police arrested Harpal Singh alias Bhala, a resident of Lakhna village in Tarn Taran district.
Police recovered 5kg heroin and also impounded a motorcycle from his possession, he said.
Giving details, Yadav said that following an intelligence input, a team of Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar apprehended the alleged accused Harpal when he was going on his motorcycle, during checking at village Wan Tara Singh-village on Basarke road near Dera Radha Swami in Tarn Taran.
