Punjab MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa to hold political stage on Rakhar Punya fest
Team Amritpal will be addressing the ‘sangat’ too.
Expressing concern over the prolonged delay in the SGPC general elections, Singh said considering the sentiments of the quom (community), Team Amritpal “has resolved to actively engage with the sangat and encourage them to register in large numbers for the SGPC elections”.
"Following the strong mandate received from the people of Khadoor Sahib, we believe the sangat will extend similar support in the SGPC elections,” said Sukhchain.
He said that another significant issue confronting the quom is the prolonged delay in the release of Bandhi Singh.
"We are conducting meetings with the sangat to address this concern and may announce a new programme, including a movement against drug abuse, during the Rakhar Punya celebrations,” he added. Traditionally, all political parties set up political stages at Baba Bakala during the Rakhar Punya festival, which coincides with Rakhri (Raksha Bandhan). Khalsa said he would also set up a political stage at Baba Bakala on Rakhar Punya. “We need to talk about the SGPC elections, the release of Sikh prisoners and other issues confronting the community and it is one of the best occasions on the pious land,” he said.
