The ZPSS members also demanded the release of their companions who were arrested following clashes between protesting villagers and police in Mandaur village of Nabha.

The protestors as per their scheduled plan gathered in Patiala and decided to move towards residence of Health Minister and Patiala (Rural) MLA Balbir Singh to gherao his residence however the district officials held a meeting with the union leaders and got them a meeting fixed with the Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema for August 28.

The union members claimed that administrative officials have also assured them to release their arrested protestors by Tuesday.

ZPSS leader Mukesh Malaudh said, “We deferred the plan to gherao the minister’s residence as the officials have assured us to release all 17 protestors from jails by Tuesday. They also fixed our meeting with minister Harpal Cheema to discuss our demands including making public the investigation report on dummy allotments of Panchayati land in five villages including Mandaur village. We would reclaim the share of Panchayati land meant for the Dalits in Mandaur village through non-violent means. This land was illegally occupied for tiling purposes under police protection on July 21 in Mandaur village after which police booked several protesters and launched a hunt till next day to arrest many others”.
