AMRITSAR: The ministers of Punjab's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, and workers staged a demonstration demanding the release of party's senior leaders Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain.
Ministers Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Harbhajan Singh ETO, former minister Inderbir Singh Nijjar, and AAP MLAs sat on dharna and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Minister Harbhajan Singh said that the Modi government arrested Sanjay Singh without any evidence against him in the so-called ‘liquor scam’ which didn't even exist.
“We want the release of our leaders Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendra Jain who have been put behind bars without any evidence,“ minister Dhaliwal said.
He said that the BJP government in the Center had initiated a crackdown against AAP fearing its defeat in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. “This is our initial victory," he said.
