AMRITSAR: Pro-Khalistan preacher and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh has been granted permission to meet his new lawyer advocate Rajdev Singh at Assam’s Dibrugarh jail where the secessionist leader along with nine of his aides is detained under the National Security Act (NSA).
Kirandeep Kaur, Amritpal's wife, said on Saturday that the new deputy commissioner (DC) of Amritsar Ghanshyam Thori has granted permission to Rajdev Singh to meet Amritpal.
Amritpal along with other detainees had begun indefinite hunger strike in the jail on October 3 for now allowing Rajdev to meet him.
Kirandeep, who also began hunger strike outside the jail, said that all the detainees ended the hunger strike on October 6 following assurances from the police.
Kirandeep, a UK national, said, “Up till this part, we are satisfied.”
She said she was hopeful that advocate Rajdev Singh would be traveling to Dibrugarh’s Central Jail to meet Amritpal very soon.
