No destination marriage in presence of SGGS-Sikh high priests
AMRITSAR: Five Sikh high priests have prohibited the installation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib (SGGS) during destination weddings taking place at sea beaches and resorts etc. besides, they have taken a strict stance by disqualifying the management of a gurdwara in Bathinda for conducting a same-sex marriage ceremony in the presence of SGGS.
The decision was taken during the meeting of five Sikh high priests held at Akal Takht secretariat on Monday.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh informed that Akal Takht secretariat had received numerous complaints against solemnizing of "anand karaj" at sea beaches, resorts etc. in the presence of SGGS which was a violation of maryada (Sikh code of religious conduct). He informed that Sikh priests had decided to impose a ban on such destination marriages.
The Sikh high priests have taken a firm stand against the management of gurdwara Kalghidhar Sahib, Multania Road, Bathinda, following a same-sex marriage ceremony between two girls in the presence of SGGS. They have disqualified the said management, stating that they would not be involved in the management of any other gurdwara. The Sikh high priests have directed the sangat (congregation) to elect an "amritdhari" (baptized) management committee for the said gurdwara.
The Sikh high priests have also blacklisted the head granthi Hardev Singh, granthi Ajaib Singh, ragi Sikander Singh, and tabla player Satnam Singh for a period of five years due to their violation of maryada and have imposed a ban upon them from performing religious duties in any gurdwara.
The other decisions were taken with regard to gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha, Indore , gurdwara Singh Sabha, Hoshiapur etc.

I think, SGPC has banned taking Guru Granth Sahib to other locations a long time ago. No doubt, taking holy book to hotels, marriage palaces, beaches or any place other than Gurudwara Sahib for the purpose of performing marriage is sacrilege. Read allPost comment
