AMRITSAR: Indian ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Punjab's Amritsar on Friday.

Sandhu also visited Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) headquarters Teja Singh Samundari Hall which is named after his grandfather.

Stating that the Golden Temple is the center of faith for the entire humanity, Sandhu said that he visits here every year to pay obeisance and to seek blessings of the Guru.

Talking about his grandfather, he said Teja Singh Samundri contributed immensely during the establishment of SGPC and participated in many morchas (fronts).

He said that it was a matter of pride for his family that Teja Singh was a high-ranking leader of the Sikh community.

He suggested that during the era of technology, Sikh community should also make more efforts to make students experts in technical education in its educational institutions.

Taranjit was honored by SGPC member Rajinder Singh Mehta and other officials.
