AMRITSAR: Two people who landed at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das International airport after visiting Italy some days back, on Saturday, tested positive for Covid-19 in preliminary medical tests while the report of another suspected case turned out to be negative. All three had arrived from Italy via Delhi and were on way to Hoshiapur.
Amritsar’s Guru Nanak Dev Hospital medical superintendent Raman Sharma said that according to the preliminary report received from AIIMS Delhi, two of the suspected patients had tested positive for Covid-19 the third did not have the virus.
Visitor to Dubai sent to isolation wardAmritsar’s Guru Nanak Dev Hospital medical superintendent Raman Sharma said the test reports from National Institute of Virology, Pune, are expected by Saturday night or Sunday. According to Sharma, all three were found to have mild symptoms of cough upon arrival at Amritsar airport. “They were not allowed to go to Hoshiarpur and shifted to the isolation ward of the hospital for treatment and are improving,” he said.
He said all persons with whom they came in contact after landing in Amritsar are under watch and those suspected to have symptoms have been quarantined. The third patient whose preliminary report came out negative has been admitted in a separate isolation ward. One more person who had arrived from Dubai on Saturday, and had mild symptoms of coronavirus was admitted to the isolation ward.
The laboratory of Government Medical College, Amritsar is expected to start only by next week.
