Himachal Pradesh natives living in Amritsar seek political representation

AMRITSAR: Natives of Himachal Pradesh, a significant voting population in Amritsar, express dismay over alleged neglect by local and HP politicians, especially during elections like the upcoming Amritsar Municipal Corporation's (AMC) elections.
Despite contributing to the city's progress, the community faces challenges in fielding their candidates. Advocate P C Sharma highlights their urgent need for political attention, emphasizing their substantial presence with over 2 lakh registered voters in Amritsar.
The Himachal Pradesh populace in areas like Pawan Nagar, Kangra Colony, and Majithia Road engages in diverse occupations, from small-time shopkeepers to business owners and professionals.Himjan Ekta Manch President Pawan Dogra reveals the community's desire to field candidates in elections, hindered by various obstacles. He notes past instances of neglect, even when former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shanta Kumar advised local BJP politicians to provide adequate representation.
P C Sharma points out that many Himachal Pradesh residents in Amritsar prefer having their ration cards in Himachal due to better subsidies. General Secretary of Himachal Sudhar Sabha, Kamlesh Kumar, urges the Punjab government to extend similar facilities. Despite organizational representation, scheduling meetings becomes a challenge, according to Kamlesh.
