KAPURTHALA: The decomposed body of one of the missing Jalandhar businessmen brothers, Jashanbir Singh Dhillon, was on Saturday recovered from the fields of Mand Dhoonda village in Sultanpur Lodhi sub-division of Kapurthala district.
Jashanbir had jumped into the Beas followed by his brother Manavjit Singh on August 17 evening after the latter's humiliation at a Jalandhar police station.

His family and friends identified the body from the heavy Karra (steel bangle) he was wearing as well as his shoes and clothes.
The body was first spotted by a farmer when he went to his fields. "Farmer Harinder Singh spied the decomposed body trapped in bushes and informed me and others," said Amar Singh, who filmed the body.
Amar Singh said, “We recorded a video and sent it to MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira and informed the Talwandi Chaudhrian police station SHO immediately, who reached there.” Khaira tweeted the video clip and expressed suspicion that it could be that of Jashanbir Singh Dhillon. As he put it in public domain, the video triggered activity by Sultanpur Lodhi police. Police retrieved the body using a boat in the late evening and it was taken to Sultanpur Lodhi civil hospital in the night where missing men’s father Jatinder Pal Singh Dhillon, relatives and friends were present.
“We sent pictures of the Karra, shoes and other clothes to Jashanbir’s wife who confirmed the identity. I could also identify him from the Karra and jeans as I had seen him just before he jumped in the river,” said Manavdeep Singh Uppal, a close friend of the brothers duo. Dhillon Senior and his sons’ friend Manavdeep Singh Uppal have been accusing Division No. 1 police of misbehaving with Manavjit and humiliating him by removing his turban. They have been alleging that Manavjit’s younger brother Jashanbir was deeply hurt due to his brother’s humiliation. They had named SHO Navdeep Singh and two other cops for badly insulting Manavjit. This, they claimed, led the younger brother to jump into the Beas and his older brother followed him.
