BSF celebrates Independence Day at India-Pakistan border

AMRITSAR: On the occasion of 77th Independence Day, director general of Border Security Force (BSF) Nitin Agrawal hoisted the national flag on the premises of 144 Bn BSF, Khasa, Amritsar and congratulated all bordermen, and their families and urged them to contribute in the development of the country. Sanjay Gaur, deputy inspector general, Station Head Quarter ( SHQ ) Amritsar hoisted the tricolour in the premises of Joint Check Post, Attari . On this occasion, BSF exchanged sweets and pleasantries with their counterparts of Pakistan Rangers .During the retreat ceremony held on Independence Day, Nitin Aggarwal along with his wife Samita Aggarwal, SDG (Western Command ) PV Ramasastry , Atul Fulzele, Inspector General, Punjab Frontier was present durng whcich various cultural programmes such as bhangra and gidda were performed .DG BSF hailed Punjab Frontier for the seizure of 273 kg heroin, 34 drones, 19 arms, 468 ammunition and apprehension of 16 smugglers along Indo Pak border in Punjab during the current year.Nitin congratulated BSF and local population for active participation in making ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ & ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' campaign successful and appreciated the mass plantation drive being carried-out by BSF for developing a green and healthy environment for all. The BSF officials attended the wreath laying ceremony at the Martyrs Column, Hussainiwala, in the Ferozepur district and paid floral tribute to the martyrs of 1965 and 1971 Indo - Pak War.
