FEROZEPUR: A few years after losing his natural arms to electrocution, 12-year-old Tanush of seventh standard has the writing, catching, and picking power back in his hands with the "dream gift" of robotic limbs.
On Tuesday, thrill, surprise, and emotions touched him together as his eyes welled up on receiving this artificial set from the district administration.
Tanush said: "I always dreamed of having my arms back some day. It was more than a surprise, I nearly cried, recalling all those problems my family had to face due to my disability."
This gift worth Rs 1 lakh is from the District Red Cross Society and social activist Vipul Narang, who were there to see the boy's joy. These programable, power-operated, mechanical arms mimic the real limbs. Ferozepur deputy commissioner Rajesh Dhiman said that: "Ludhiana's Health Products Medicare custom-built these arms for Tanush. I am proud of the District Red Cross Society and social workers who gifted this to the child. Helping the needy is the greatest religion."
Tanush's mother, Prabhajit Kaur, and father, Sahdev Kumar, thanked the district administration and the social workers. As for the boy, the only this he can't hold now is his joy.
