Sources in the family said Tarsem was on the way to Qatar to meet some people who were in the family's transport business. They added that Tarsem had informed police before travelling abroad. This could not be verified with Tarsem as he couldn't be contacted.

When contacted, Amritsar senior superintendent of police (rural) Satinder Singh said the police didn't stop Tarsem from boarding the flight.

However, sources said the family of Amritpal, who is lodged in Assam's high-security Dibrugarh central jail, is under the radar of various intelligence agencies ever since the arrest. In past, Amritpal's wife, Kirandeep Kaur, was also stopped from flying to the UK.
