Bathinda: After playing an important role in the Aam Aadmi Party's splendid victory in Delhi elections in 2015, the party's cultural wing 'Dance 4 Democracy' (D4D) is ready to woo the youth of Punjab ahead of assembly elections next year. The D4D is a group of young volunteers, mostly college students, which engages people on diverse issues of culture and highlights main problems of respective areas through songs and small plays.
The team had come out with a hugely popular song '5 saal Kejriwal' in Delhi which played a major role in attracting the attention of Delhiites ahead of assembly polls. Two campaigns for Punjab -- about drugs and 'Malwai Giddha' -- have already been prepared by D4D and it is studying various problems of the state to prepare content accordingly. The team will start work within a week.
D4D founder Anand Raj Singh, 27, said, "We come here with 'Mission 2017' and will stay here for a year -- till AAP wins Punjab." At present, one team of 15 persons, all below 30, from Delhi and Punjab is ready to rock the state, he said. More teams, comprising only the Punjabi youth, would be formed soon, he added. "We will concentrate on both urban as well as rural areas. We are studying various aspects, which have a huge bearing on Punjab's culture, social circuit and politics and all these things will be theme of our songs and small presentations at markets places or any social gatherings."
Two senior members from AAP's Delhi unit, Manish Singh and Raj Buttar, were helping him in the endeavour apart from nearly a dozen youths from Punjab.
"We are preparing singers, writers and musical instruments, which might be liked in the state," he added.
"It is a very unique concept which turned out highly successful in the national capital. Some of us, ready with musical instruments, would suddenly appear at any place and start singing.
"This easily made connect with the people and succeed in sending party message to all," said party's organization building in-charge Durgesh Pathak.
