The Amritsar Rural Police have busted a cross-border drugs smuggling racket following the recovery of 15kg heroin. A smuggler has been arrested in connection with the case.

AMRITSAR: The Amritsar Rural Police have busted a cross-border drugs smuggling racket following the recovery of 15kg heroin. A smuggler has been arrested in connection with the case.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said Wednesday that the arrested drug smuggler has been identified as Harpreet Singh, a native of Chohla Sahib, presently residing at New Ranjitpura in Amritsar.

Apart from recovering the contraband, police also impounded a car in which Harpreet was traveling.
Yadav said that following the inputs from the Village Level Defence Committee (VLDC), police carried out an intelligence-based operation in the area of police station Kathunangal and arrested Harpreet Singh.
Police had also named four associates of Harpreet - Gagandeep Singh alias Guggu alias Haddi, Rahul Singh, and Harpreet Singh alias Happy Jatt in the case.
The preliminary investigations in the case revealed that the heroin consignment belonged one Happy Jatt and Harpreet was going to deliver the consignment on his directions.
