YSRCP-NDA cadres face-off sparks off tension in temple city
TIRUPATI: The face-off between the ruling party activists and the NDA cadres sparked off tension in the temple city of Tirupati on Saturday.
Jana Sena candidate Arani Sreenivasulu accompanied by a large contingent of Jana Sena, TDP and BJP cadres were conducting a door to door campaign at the Giripuram locality in Tirupati on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP activists, who too were conducting campaign at the same locality, came on a face to face situation with the NDA cadres at the Giripuram locality.
The atmosphere on ground got surcharged after the ruling party activists and the Jana Sena cadres resorted to sloganeering.
And as jostling ensued between the two rival groups, some cadres belonging to both sides clashed with each other and later on, reportedly resorted to stone pelting, causing injuries on both sides.
The local police intervened and dispersed the warring groups to contain the situation.
While the YSRCP leaders accused Arani Sreenivasulu of assaulting their party activists by roping in rowdies from Chittoor, the Jana Sena camp hit back at the ruling party for instigating the attack through their goons.
