Addressing a press conference at Tirumala on Tuesday, the DGP stated that based on a complaint filed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams over the laddu-ghee adulteration with animal fats, at the Tirupati East police station, an SIT was constituted. Given the significance of the issue, an IG rank officer was appointed as the SIT chief to conduct a thorough investigation into the case.

"Our SIT team visited TTD's marketing godown and labs and inspected the manner of raw materials procurement and testing mechanisms involved. As the Supreme Court directions to stall the investigation till Oct 3 came, we have temporarily suspended the investigation for now," DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao stated.

The AP DGP added that the counsel appearing for the state govt in this case also advised temporarily suspending the SIT investigation.

The AP DGP, however, added that the SIT investigation progress will depend on the outcome of the proceedings in the Supreme Court.

It was about a week ago that the state govt constituted an SIT to investigate deeper into the Tirupati laddu-ghee adulteration case.

"We have been asked to stop the SIT probe till Oct 3, which is also the next date of hearing in the apex court on the laddu-ghee adulteration case. We will see the outcome of the proceedings at the Supreme Court and take a call again shortly. We are not in a hurry and are committed to conducting a detailed investigation into the case," the DGP asserted.

It was about a week ago that the state govt constituted an SIT to investigate deeper into the Tirupati laddu-ghee adulteration case.

While the 9-member SIT, headed by Guntur IG Sarvashresth Tripathi, launched its probe on Saturday, the investigation could last just four days amidst the unfavourable developments for the state govt in the Supreme Court.
