Police arrest 7 accused in IPL betting at Adoni, Rs.91 lakh seized

In Kurnool district, Adoni police arrested seven individuals involved in illegal IPL betting operations. Acting on increased complaints, special teams were formed, leading to a raid near Valmiki Nagar where SR Nagaraju was caught red-handed with ₹50,000. His information led to further arrests near Yellammakonda, seizing ₹91 lakh and seven mobile phones from M Ismail and others.

TIRUPATI: Adoni I town police arrested seven accused involved in IPL betting in Kurnool district on Saturday. According to Kurnool SP Vikrant Patil, the district police wing formed special teams to investigate activities of cricket betting in the district following a spike in complaints in the recent times about youngsters falling prey to the betting racket and losing money and falling into a debt trap.As part of the of the investigation, Adoni police conducted raids near Valmiki nagar locality and arrested one accused identified as SR Nagaraju and seized Rs.50000 cash from him when he was caught redhanded while indulging in IPL betting.After Nagaraju spilled the beans during police questioning, seven more accused identified as M Ismail (44), B Mahanandi (55), B Ramesh (26), S Rajesh (38), C Srinivasa Rao (48), A Kalyan (33) and Raghu Achari, near Yellammakonda in the outskirts of Adoni. Police seized Rs.91 lakh cash and 7 mobile phones from the possession of the accused. Kurnool SP added that the accused were involved in IPL betting through five different apps and further investigation will go on.
