Pay hike for contract teachers in Andhra Pradesh

AMATAVATI: State government has revised the salaries of teachers working on contract basis in

tribal welfare ashram schools

Nakka Anand Babu

told reporters on Tuesday that the chief minister had cleared the decks to increase the salaries of the

contract teachers

following the representations from the teacher's unions.

As per the new pay scale, school assistants would now get Rs. 14,860 per month instead of Rs.5500 per month in the past. Similarly, the secondary grade teachers' salaries have been upped from Rs.4500 per month to Rs.10900.

The new wages would come into effect from April, 2017. Minister said that all the eligible contract residential teachers in tribal ashram schools would benefit. He said that the decision has been taken to strengthen the education standards in the tribal welfare schools. He said that new salaries would be granted to the teachers who got the appointment order on contract basis in the clear vacancy in the school. The new salaries would be applicable only to those who possess required qualification for the post.

"The increase of salaries will help us retain the teachers from getting migrated and provide best faculty to the students in tribal ashram schools," said Anand Babu.
