Addressing the progressive farmers' meet organized by Chaitanya Godavari Grameena Bank (CGGB), a Regional Rural Bank (RRB), at Guntur on Monday, Dr Chintala suggested that farmers should come out of age old practices and be innovative in their farming practices.

He explained that natural farming is best to reaping rich dividents. He said that extensive use of chemical based fertilizers would lead not only result in loss of fertility of the soil but also increasing the cost of cultivation multifold. He said that the huge cultivation costs are mainly pushing the farmers into debt trap as they were unable to get the returns matching to their expenditure. He advocated organic farming by rotation of one-fifth of the piece of land holding on annual basis for a period of five years.

Dr G R Chintala said that cost of cultivation could be reduced if all the family members are whole heartedly involved in the cultivation of land by giving their labor. He further stated that integrated farming as is practiced in Dharvad in Karnataka state is very much useful for increasing the farm incomes and Farmers Producers’ Organization (FPO) is also a better route for securing good returns for the farm produce.

Farmers' meet is attended by about one thousand farmers from erstwhile Guntur, East and West Godavari districts. Nabard CGM M R Gopal, DGMs M S R C Murthy, B Swati, DGM, DDM K R D Kartheek, Chairman, CGGB, T Kameswara Rao, CGGM GM Dr. B V Ramana Rao, GM E S R V Appa Rao, RMs P Veera Reddy, P Maruthi Ram, G S N Satish Kumar and P Srinivasu were also present.
