Amaravati: TDP national general secretary and former minister Nara Lokesh on Friday began his 4,000km-long padayatra, named Yuvagalam, which will pass through various parts of the state for the next 400 days.
Soon after the padayatra began, Tollywood actor Nandamuri Tarakaratna suffered a massive heart attack and fell down unconscious. He was rushed to a local hospital and thereafter to PES medical college hospital in Kuppam.
His condition is said to be stable. The actor’s uncle and legislator
Nandamuri Balakrishna visited the hospital and enquired about his health condition.
Doctors, who performed angiogram, found heavy blockade in his coronary arteries. Sources said Tarakaratna felt discomfort while walking out of a local mosque, which was visited by Lokesh.
A huge crowd was accompanying Lokesh. Unable to breathe comfortably, Tarakaratna reportedly requested a security personnel to take him out of the crowd. As he was being brought out, he fell unconscious.
Lokesh later continued with his padayatra. He said the TDP will announce a separate manifesto for the youth in the state. Terming chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as ‘Jaadu (magician) Reddy’,
Lokesh alleged that the state government deceived the youth by not releasing the job calendar as promised before the last elections.
Padayatra has a long history in Telugu politics and in many instances, those undertaking the yatra come to power. Earlier, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu took up a 2,800km-long walk before the 2014 elections.
