TIRUPATI: Tens of thousands of devotees took part in the golden chariot procession held in connection with the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival at Tirumala on Saturday.
Lord Malayappa Swamy accompanied by His two divine consorts Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi were adorned with special floral garlands and antique jewellery and were majestically seated inside the golden chariot, which was dragged with the help of giant ropes by the ardent devotees of Lord Venkateswara.
It is a customary practice to organize the golden chariot procession on the Vaikunta Ekadasi day and the Chakrasnanam rituals on the Vaikunta Dwadasi day at Tirumala every year.
Meanwhile, several prominent temples dedicated to Lord Sri Maha Vishnu celebrated the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival with utmost pomp on Saturday.
Thousands of devotees also queued up to Lord Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram, Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy temple at Appalayagunta, Sri Venkateswara Swamy temples at Tiruchanoor, Tummalagunta and SV university campus, on the auspicious Vaikunta Ekadasi eve on Saturday.
