TIRUPATI: Exodus from the Telugu Desam party into the ruling YSRCP at Atmakur assembly in Nellore district has picked up intensity right ahead of the 2024 general elections.

State Telugu Rythu vice president Rapur Sundara Rami Reddy, Ananthasagaram TDP mandal party president Sadda Ravindra Reddy, Ananthasagaram mandal ex-NUDA director Shaik Khajavali, SGN Junaid Pasha and about 50 members from the two-wheelers association at Atmakur resigned from the TDP and joined the YSRCP in the presence of Atmakur legislator Mekapati Vikram Reddy on Saturday.

The spike in exodus from the TDP is seen as a jolt to the opposition party, which has fielded former minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy against YSRCP sitting MLA Mekapati Vikram Reddy in the ensuing elections.

After inducting the TDP leaders into the YSRCP, Vikram Reddy predicted that more leaders from the opposition parties will join the ruling party fold in the coming days.

"Not only the people but even opposition party leaders are pledging faith in chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's leadership who has implemented an unprecedented number of welfare schemes without compromising on the development front" the YSRCP legislator observed.
