CM inaugurates several hospitals in Kadapa, vows to transform RIMS into a medical hub

TIRUPATI: Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated Dr YSR super speciality hospital, Dr YSR institute of mental health and Dr YSR cancer care centre at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at his home district YSR Kadapa on Saturday.

On the sidelines of his three-day tour of YSR Kadapa, Jagan also inaugurated the LV Prasad eye hospital buildings at Dr YSR campus near the RIMS hospital.

The chief minister vowed to transform RIMS into a world-class medical and healthcare hub.

Jagan underlined that RIMS was extending the best of healthcare facilities to the needy people belonging to the entire Rayalaseema region.



The super speciality hospital inaugurated by the CM is a 452 bedded hospital, established in a sprawling area of 2.38 lakh square feet. The G+4 hospital which has five blocks, was constructed by spending Rs.125 crore.

Medical treatments will be extended to the needy covering 10 super speciality departments at the newly inaugurated hospital.

On the other hand, Dr YSR institute of mental health is a 100 bedded hospital established by the state government in about 97844 square feet premises by spending Rs.40 crore.

Dr YSR cancer care centre established at the RIMS premises is a 100 bedded hospital spread out in an extent of 1.58 lakh square feet area. The state government spent Rs.107 crore to establish this specialized cancer care hospital.

Meanwhile, Jagan also inaugurated Century panels limited's manufacturing unit at Gopavaram village in Badvel constituency earlier in the day.

The newly inaugurated unit was established with an investment of 956 crore in an extent of 100 acres. The unit provides direct employment opportunities to more than 2000 people.

The unit will produce high power laminates (HPL) and medium density fibre (MDF) boards.

Apart from allocating the 100 acres of land required for the establishment of the plant, the state government also promised to allocate 0.07 TMC waters from the Brahman Sagar project and spent Rs.45 crore to lay dedicated water pipelines to the plant.

The state government also spent Rs.19.11 crore to establish a 133 KV sub station to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the plant.

Meanwhile, CM also inaugurated the Ambedkar circle Y junction road established by the state government by spending Rs.56.7 crore and the newly constructed Koti Reddy circle at Kadapa town on Saturday.
