TIRUPATI: Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has been appointed as the chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The state government issued orders to this effect on Saturday.
This is the second time that Bhumana is occupying the coveted post of TTD chairman. He was earlier appointed as the TTD chairman between 2006 and 2008 in undivided AP by then Congress government headed by Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy.

After a gap of 15 years, Bhumana was given the second term.
Karunakar Reddy is a two-time MLA from Tirupati. He was born at Eedarapalle village in Nandalur mandal of Kadapa district and completed his master's degree in arts from Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati.
Though there were several contenders for the prestigious position and the names of YSRCP MLC Janga Krishnamurthy, former ministers Kolusu Parthasaradhi and Sidda Raghava Rao were also doing rounds, the state government surprised all by nominating Karunakar Reddy.
Meanwhile, the tenure of the present TTD trust board headed by YV Subba Reddy will end on August 8.
While the last TTD trust board meeting to be chaired by Subba Reddy is scheduled for August 7, the state government nominated Karunakar Reddy, thereby making Monday's board meeting somewhat inconsequential.
