VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Thursday decided to ban all online games and betting and also extended the ban on Moists by another year.
The government would amend the AP Gaming Act, 1974 prohibiting playing and organising of all online games in the state. The government also said that those who were found playing online games would be imprisoned for a minimum period of six months while those organising it will be imprisoned for one year.
If they were caught for the second time, the imprisonment would be for a period of two years. The decision was taken to prevent the spread of online gaming activity in the state leading to betting on a massive scale.
The cabinet also decided to extend the ban on Maoists and other Naxalite groups in the state. The ban would be extended to the Radical Youth League, Rythu Coolie Sangham, Grameena Pedala Sangham, Radical Students Union, Singareni Karmika Samakhya, Viplava Karmika Samakhya and All India Revolutionary Students Federation.
