Andhra Pradesh: Youth who lost his job abroad caught distilling illicit liquor in Tirupati

who lost his job abroad and returned back to the country was caught red handed while distilling

illicit liquor

in the temple city of Tirupati on Saturday.

, assistant excise superintendent, special enforcement bureau-Tirupati, following a tip off received in the early hours on Saturday, SEB sleuths raided a residence located near Sri Padmavathi Women's university in Tirupati.

Excise sleuths realized that the residence they raided right in front of the women's university was nothing short of a den. The excise sleuths seized 70 litres of illicitly distilled liquor bottles and 400 litres of fermented jaggery wash fit for distillation of hutch liquor along with 44 pieces of 1 litre bottles of brandy smuggled into the state from Karnataka.

SEB sleuths arrested a 29-year-old unmarried youngster identified as Mathavalam Vamsi Krishna Reddy, a native of Thotapalli village in Pakala mandal who relocated to Tirupati.

Assistant excise superintendent M Sudheer Babu shared some startling information about the arrested youngster. "Vamsi Krishna Reddy who was earlier working at Malaysia had relocated to Tirupati after he lost his job recently. He was in neck-deep debts. Besides working as a freelance techie, Vamsi Krishna took-up illicit brewing of liquor at a rented premises near Mahila university. He told us that he developed brewing expertise by watching Youtube videos", he said.

SEB assistant excise superintendent Sudheer Babu expressed concerns that many youngsters who either lost their jobs or wanted to make some quick and easy money were resorting to unlawful activities including selling illicit and country made liquor in the recent times. He appealed to the youth to shun away from such activities as their very future will be completely doomed eventually.
