TIRUPATI: The red sanders anti smuggling task force sleuths arrested six smugglers and seized 48 red sanders logs at two different locations near Rajampet on Friday.
According to Task force SP M Sundara Rao, two special teams led by RIs Suresh Kumar Reddy and Krupananda conducted combing operations inside the Seshachalam forests near Rajampet at two different locations and seized 25 RS logs near Guttarallathova and 23 near Papanaidupeta section forest area on Friday.
The six smugglers arrested by the task force sleuths were identified as P Marayya (25), K Sivakumar (26), MT Shanmugam (32), D Venkatesh (30), Akula Prabhakar (40), V Venkatesh (24).
Task force SP told reporters that the approximate value of the 48 RS logs seized was around Rs 1 crore in the international markets.
