Andhra Pradesh: Law & order ADGP reviews red sanders task force initiatives in Tirupati

TIRUPATI: State's additional director general of police (law & order) Dr A Ravi Shankar IPS who is also the director (task force) of the special enforcement bureau, reviewed the various initiatives and preparedness of the red sanders anti smuggling task force headquartered in Tirupati on Sunday.

Task force SP Chakravarthi briefed the ADGP about the combing operations and other measures mooted in the recent times to effectively curb the perennial red sanders smuggling activities which have been rampant across the Seshachalam forests spread across Tirupati-Chittoor-Annamayya-YSR districts.

Additional DG Ravi Shankar IPS directed the red sanders anti smuggling task force to go for a deep-rooted study to get a grip of the demand for the red sanders in the international markets, the transportation of the red logs through ports and sea-routes and to build a strong intelligence network so as to effectively curb the red sanders smuggling activities and bring them to a complete naught.
