Senior officials have been designated as liaison officers to escort foreign delegates from the hotels to the GIS venue. The government has identified about 900 delegates as VIPs. “We have been following industrialist-friendly policies and have brought complete transparency to the administration,” chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said during a meeting with officials on the GIS arrangements.
Industries minister Gudivada Amarnath said about 50 representatives from different foreign embassies are attending the session. “At least eight ambassadors have confirmed their participation. About 150 stalls have been set up to showcase the state in different sectors. The government has identified 15 sectors as focus areas to attract investments,” he said.
Meanwhile, the delegates attending the GIS were accorded a grand welcome at the Visakhapatnam airport on Thursday. The government has deputed special teams to receive the delegates and has also set up a help desk at the airport. Women executives gave the traditional ‘harati’ and marked ‘tilak’ on the forehead of the delegates to welcome them to the summit. A traditional music concert was also organised.

Officials said registrations for the GIS have swelled in the last two days. The total number of delegates expected to participate in the event may go up to 18,000, they said, adding that about 6,000 delegates registered in the last two days alone.
