TIRUPATI: A court in Andhra Pradesh's YSR District sentenced a 39-year-old man to rigorous imprisonment for life for murdering his seven-month-old pregnant wife.

According to the Kadapa Police, the convict — identified as Vakkala Syed Hussain of Proddatur — had killed Syed Yasmin (25) on February 22, 2014.

Hussain, who would harass his wife for additional dowry, killed Yasmin using a pestle.

Following a complaint lodged by the victim's father Syed Allabaksh, the Proddatur Police had arrested Hussain.

After he was proved guilty, the second additional district court sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for life on Thursday.

Just an imprisonment for killing two (the wife and unborn kid) ? Alright, may not be death, but it could have some simultaneous convictions running parallelly and witout remission spelt out. This is one which courts usually shy from, and is necessary part in case of heinous crimes, not totally, but almost, qualifying for death penalty.
