Andhra Pradesh: Chittoor police bust robbers' gang, 9 arrested

TIRUPATI: The Chittoor Police busted a dacoity gang and arrested nine of its members on Thursday. The police also recovered Rs 11 lakh stolen cash, a car and two motorbikes from their possession.
SP Y Rishanth Reddy said that on August 1, 13 men intercepted a car on Kalepalli cross in Gangadhara Nellore mandal and attacked a person in the vehicle. The gang looted Rs 12 cash from him and fled from the spot.
Johnson, who was robbed of the cash, filed a complaint with Gangadhara Nellore police the same day following which the cops launched an investigation.
A police team collected details of the gang and tracked the mobile phones of the accused involved in the robbery.
Finally, the police arrested nine members of the gang at Negmalikonda Subrahmanya swamy temple in Cherlopalli village early on Thursday.
