900 car engines go missing from Kia Motors plant in Andhra Pradesh

TIRUPATI: Police have launched a investigation after around 900 car engines went missing fom Kia Motors manufacturing plant at Penugonda in Andhra Pradesh's Sri Sathya Sai district.

A formal complaint in this connection was filed on March 19.

Initially, the plant authorities had approached the police for an investigation but did not file an official complaint.

However, after the police department made it clear that no investigation could proceed without a formal complaint, Kia Motors lodged one last month.

According to police sources, Kia Motors sources its equipment and spare parts from across the country to its Penugonda plant. Authorities are now investigating whether the engines could have been stolen during transit from Tamil Nadu and other regions of India.

Police have formed special teams to investigate the matter, and sources have indicated that they have already made a breakthrough in the case.
