Woman constable's suicide bid: SSP orders probe

ALLAHABAD: A probe will be conducted into the the Sunday incident, wherein a woman constable, Monika Singh, attempted suicide after sprinkling kerosene at her room under Mahila Thana, said SSP, Allahabad, Salabh Mathur on Monday.
The SSP added that departmental action will be taken against the constable, if she is found guilty in the probe. He, however, said our priority was to offer better medical care to the woman constable.The condition of the constable is stated to be stable. Reports, however, said that Monika was recently suspended by the then SSP, Allahabad, Jogendra Kumar on charges of dereliction of duties. The constable was accused of claiming HRA and night pass allowance despite the fact that she was staying in police quarters.
