Vinod Kapri threatened by Jal Pari's father

ALLAHABAD: A day after alleging that the attempt by Kanpur girl Shradha Shukla to swim from Kanpur to Varanasi as fake, noted documentary maker, Vinod Kapri was allegedly threatened by the girl’s father when they were approaching Mirzapur. Kapri, has sent a sms to the DGP and SP Mirzapur in this regard and is filing an FIR against Lalit Shukla, Jal Pari’s father.
In Saturday’s development, Kapri and his team had gone towards Mirzapur and were waiting near Vidhychal ghat and as they spotted the boat of the expedition, they started rolling the camera. “As we approached towards and the boat, we spotted the girl sitting in the moving boat and when her father saw everything filmed, he started shouting and abusing us and threatened for dire consequences when he returns to kanpur”, said the film maker while talking to TOI.
Some of the media persons too were sitting on our boat when the incident happened, he added. The entire incident of Lalit Shukla shouting at Kapri has been recorded by Kapri’s team.
Kapri said, “I had messaged the state DGP, DIG and SP Mirzapur requesting them to provide us security in apprehension of some untoward incident, but nothing was done”.
Meanwhile, Lalit Shukla told TOI (on phone) that when Kapri’s team came to shoot their documentary on the girl, the villagers on the bank got agitated and became violent. “I have not threatened him and it was the public which wanted to teach him a lesson”, he said.
SP Mirzapur, Arvind Sen said, “Vinod Kapri has given us a written complaint, with a request to file an FIR saying that he was threatened by Shradha’s father, Lalit Shukla, while his team was filming her expedition”. We will be doing the needful in the incident which took place in the mid-stream of Ganga, he added.
Kapri has informed the state DGP too about the incident through text message. “Now they are ready to provide us the security too”, said Kapri.
